Kick off to Christmas!

The week after Thanksgiving we decided to get serious and decorate for Christmas. For the last 4 years we have been putting up an artificial tree, but this year we wanted to start a tradition that I remember enjoying as a kid- getting a fresh tree! We wanted to get a permit and cut down our own tree, but due to my degree of pregnancy, we decided to play it a little easier and get this years tree from a lot run by a family in my aunts ward. The tree may have been a  little less full than I would have thought I wanted, but it turned out to be perfect for the amount of lights i had the energy to put up :)

After we got the tree situated at home, we made some thick and soft sugar cookies. Jack adored decorating and eating them (he did both at the same time :p). We topped those off with a couple of cold cups of vanilla spice eggnog before heading to bed.... what a perfect start to the season!

The finished tree (a couple days later ;) lights are hard to put up 7 1/2 months pregnant!). Notice my lovely tree skirt as well- my first completed Pinterest project!
